Once again I find myself out walking the streets of Allentown. I am looking for Properties of Merit for the 2009 Season! Do you know of a property that deserves recognition for it's outstanding merits to it's community? What about that home down the street that is always well cared for? How about the rental property where the tenants take exceptional care of the property as though it were their own? How about that business that remodeled their facade and remained in the city limits, rather than going to a mall site? These are all great examples of Properties of Merit!! Go over to http://www.mypom.org and learn more about Properties of Merit, and then email your nomination to info@mypom.org!

As you may or may not know, i just briefly de-activated my blackberry as a cost cutting measure. I lasted 20 days and figured out what people mean by "crackberry". I mean I use to laugh the whole thing off, but for that 20 days, a small piece of me died inside. Friggin insane. LOL! Long Story short - it's confirmed. I am afflicted with mega-geek-dom and I don't think it is going away anytime soon!! It's just SUPPOSED to be a stupid phone...............

Well, people actually read this. I am somewhat amazed! LOL! Now I just have to actually update a little more and all. This installment will be in the format of the esteemed Peter Griffin's "You know what really grinds my gears......" so here goes - you know what really grinds my gears - lazy, uninspired "sheep", muddling through life with the flock doing their best to fit in, not be noticed, and not stand out - rather than getting out there and innovating and creating new solutions and new ideas. I guess I am just surrounded by it so much anymore that it bothers me to no end. I heard more excuses this week than anything else. I have not heard one new idea be fostered, but I have heard more excuses of why things just can't be done. Bitching, whining, bickering, and making excuses gets you no where! I miss the enterprising, dreaming spirit of boldly moving forward with new ideas and innovations. Argh.......

As of recent, you talk to people all the time and hear a lot of whining about the tough economic times! (can you tell i just got done listening to just that) Well, I say that challenging times make for good challenges for apt people! I think the best thing that may come of this challenging time is that we will finally weed out the people in industries that are only marginally trained and not really serious about their careers! Personally I like the fact that we have the time to re-evaluate the way that we ALL do things and think over if we are doing them the right way. Hopefully, yes, it's getting better and we will soon be out of it. But for now, i accept the challenge!

Today being nice and sunny and moderate just makes me miss camping and the great outdoors. I admittedly don't do much outside in winter and I think I should really do more. I was just sitting here going through some photos of camping and the bug bit me. I miss camping; sitting by a fire and relaxing, enjoying doing nothing, and being away from it all. Well, the season will soon be among us again. I guess I just have to wait.

I am excited. I just got confirmation that I have passed the ARRL emcomm class - Level 2. Its like being in school again and waiting for final exams to come back. I know I did a good job, but it never really seems official until you get the results. Anyway, YEAH ME! LOL! now, I just need to get out there and put the skills to the test! Not that I would hope for a disaster, but if it would happen to arise I am now certified.

I have been going through a "period of discovery" moving to center city Allentown. I lived (essentially) in center city for 10 years before moving. but I never realized the difference that a few blocks would make. Previously, around the holidays, I would walk the dog and observe some scant changes for the holidays, which usually were simple decorations of the store bought variety. Well, this is a very unique year for me because even though I may only be a few blocks from the old place, it is quite different. Its really cool actually. I go for a walk now, and I get to see a real evolution of things. Its an eclectic variety of greens and lights, as well as some sounds and other original touches. It almost changes every day, and every day you see a little something different. Old Allentown painted the windows on the office, which looks really cool. People who you wouldn't have expected to decorate, went wild .... and this may seem trivial but it is cool. The reason I always liked living in cities was really things just like this, but the old neighborhood didn't have this true spirit. You may think this is absolutely trivial, but I just get a real kick out of it!

So, after years of trying to keep up with personal websites that end up being quickly outdated, I decided to try out some open source blogging tools. I installed Serendipity and I am going to use this for a while to see how I like it and how it works out. Keep checking back to see some of the latest entries and how the site evolves....
